HTML5 video accessibility
Audio and video are all the rage on the Web these days. If your Website doesn't contain at least some video, it's out-dated. It is true: a lot of information can be conveyed through short videos - information that would take pages to write down and patience to read. Fortunately, we are not checking accessibility at the door.
Today's HTML5 support for audio and video brings native support to browsers. This also means that we can finally leave the bane of in-accessible browser plugins for video behind and move into a bright new world of accessible video. But how far have we really come thus far? How accessible is HTML5 video in today's browsers and how accessible does the specification make it? What can we expect? Silvia will share the latest stories about HTML5 video standardisation at the W3C with you, right from the horse's mouth, since she is directly involved in making it happen.
