Working in the web since the mid 1990's, Katja Forbes remembers when everyone had blue hair, no shoes and rode around the office on razor scooters. While she prefers to forget her own red and blonde stripes, Katja's subsequent years in the industry continued to be equally unconventional. Katja worked all over the globe with the technology consultancy, Sapient, including Tokyo, Beijing, Delhi and London. While based in London for 10 years, Katja also held roles at Yahoo, Thomson Reuters and most significantly Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). While working on their major web strategy project to overhaul their websites and intranet, she became a passionate champion for accessible web experiences and gained a real life understanding of the challenges visually impaired people face every time they tackle the web. Now back in Australia, Katja works as a freelance consultant and is currently consulting to one of Australia's largest banks.
